An Oft Forgotten Locals Hangout
They go to places like Arizona Charlies, Samstown, Sunset Station, Gold Coast, Ellis Island and Silver Sevens (formerly Terribles). Locals know where the deals are and the best gambling so why not follow their lead.
In all my years, I never hear mentioned another locals hangout that, too, is off the Strip, but not far. It is the Silverton. The Silverton is a lodge style hotel with a rustic feel to it. Silverton is a short ride south of Tropicana on 1-15. You exit at Blue Diamond and it is right there on the right.
This particular hotel & casino has some unique things to offer its visitors. Most notable, is the Bass Pro Shop with 165,000 square feet of shopping area (video below). In addition, one major lure for locals and visitors is their generous comp program. If you go be sure to join their player’s club and cash in on the comps.
There’s more. The Silverton houses a 117,000 gallon aquarium complete with 4000 sea creatures and a mermaid show. Also in the area are two 500 gallon jellyfish tanks. Learn more about this attraction here.
Vegas.com states that 87% of guest recommend the hotel to others. Here is one review that might give you an idea of a common opinion of the Silverton.
Stayed here a week as Vegas.com offered best rate at the time of booking. The food and the service was terrific all week. The rooms were clean and tidy everyday as well. The pool could have been bigger, carpets in the hallways are fraying and the TV’s should be flat screens now. Just needs a bit of updating but we’d take great food and service over those minor flaws any day. Must have a vehicle to access strip and shopping outlets but so close with vehicle. (Review from vegas.com).
The only recurring complaint is that the property is showing its age and needs some spicing up. However, this is balanced out by the great prices and great food. Silverton is one place you might want to try on a future trip especially if you like Bass Pro Shops and aquariums.
