shutterstock_301744478There is a big difference between going to Las Vegas and actually living there. Are you thinking about making the big move? Do you know what you need to know before you pack your bags?

We all remember the movie, “Leaving Las Vegas,” and certainly people do leave. As we reported before, your chances of dying decrease if you do leave Las Vegas. But, on the other side of things, 5,000 people still move into the area every month and this accounts for a net increase in the population.

A question that needs to be asked is: Why do people move to Las Vegas? One reason, a major one, is opportunities and jobs. There is a building boom in progress now and jobs are plentiful and unemployment is low. Then, there are the lower taxes, friendly climate, a beautiful topography and sights to enjoy. It is also a great place to start a business. Outside the Strip, life is fairly normal as it would be any in other city.

Of course, there are the dreamers and fools who move to Vegas. These are those who think they will make a living gambling or finding their star in the entertainment industry. Some will, but most will not.

The Las Vegas Review Journal wrote a great article about what happens to those who do move there. Here is one point about people who move there that I found interesting; The Strip is no longer a “must see” place, but now a roadblock to wherever you are going. I can understand that.  Here is the article.

If you are thinking of moving to Las Vegas, your best bet is to talk to locals. This is the only way you will get the real truth about life there. Forget the tabloid stories. Ok, Viva Las Vegas!!!
