Guess Which Las Vegas Hotel & Casino Made Top Ten List

USA Today’s Best Readers’ Choice travel awards contest has ended and the winners have been released. Only one Las Vegas Casino made this list. This is somewhat shocking considering the sheer number of high end casinos in Las Vegas. There are several interesting aspects to this story.

First, probably few people could guess what casino made the list. I know I wouldn’t have guessed correctly. Surprisingly, the winner is not located on the Strip or even downtown. It finds it home over a dozen miles from either.

Ok, enough suspense, who won? The winner of the award is Red Rock Hotel and Casino. It is located west of town and near the entrance to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

Red Rock was number 8 out of 10 on the list. Another surprise is that some of Vegas’ newer Hotels, like the Aria, Cosmopolitan, or Mandarin didn’t make the list. Actually, Area and Cosmopolitan were nominated as were Bellagio, and Caesars Palace.

So what makes Red Rock Hotel and Casino an award winner? Due to its location, it can offer things a Strip or downtown casino cannot.

When you stay at Red Rock you can take advantage of their Adventure Spa program, or go hiking with a guide or even river rafting. There is something available for those who love the outdoors and those who don’t.

Red Rock is a boutique type hotel with only 800 guest rooms plus some suites and penthouses. It offers 10 restaurants, 16 movies theaters, first class entertainment, and multiple bars.

Red Hotel & Casino has also received the AAA Four Diamond Award and in 2006 Conde Nast Traveler magazine named the casino as one of the world’s best new casinos.
