Vegas Has The Christmas Spirit-Come And Get Some

IMG_2946We are now officially in the Christmas Season.

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is just thrIMG_2914ee weeks away from today. That fact may strike a note of fear in those who have not done their shopping. But, Christmas is about happier things.

Someone who has not been to Las Vegas during the Christmas Season may not think that Las Vegas would offer much to create the Christmas spirit, but it does. One of our favorite places to go during the Holidays is the Ethyl M Chocolate Factory on Sunset Way with its acre of cactus draped with Christmas lights. This is quite a sight.

Then, there are the many Christmas trees and lights lining the Strip. At other places off the Strip, such as Samstown on Boulder Highway, the Christmas spirit is evident. Its 25,000 square foot atrium area is converted to a beautiful Christmas wonderland with trees, lights, music, and nightly water shows at Mystic Falls.

On our many visits during the Season, we have heard some great Christmas music in the hotels, in the restaurants, malls and other venues. What was unexpected was that much of the music was  traditional songs like Silent Night, O Come All Ye Faithful, Joy To The World, and others. You would expect a more secular lineup in Las Vegas.

Another great way to get in the spirit is to go to a Christmas show.  There are quite a few this year. Some of these are:

‘My Mother’s Italian, My Feather’s Jewish & I’m Home for the Holidays’ at the Smith Center

Sounds of the Season at the Henderson Convention Center

‘Christmas, Motown and More!’ at the Venetian

‘Christmas, Motown and More!‘ at the Aliente (North Las Vegas)

‘Twas the Knight’ at the Excalibur

‘Legends in Concert’ at Flamingo

‘Marriage Can be Murder’ at the D Las Vegas (Downtown)
