shutterstock_292252187Downtown Las Vegas, the real Las Vegas, is announces renovations and additions of new venues all the time. In recent decades the downtown area has had to be creative in order to draw folks away from the popular Strip resorts. There is now news of yet another improvement coming.

One of the oldest and well known hotel/casinos in downtown Las Vegas is the California, or the Cal as its patrons fondly call it. What a lot of people don’t know is that this particular property has a large Hawaiian clientele and the food, feel, and restaurants have a decidedly island ambiance.

The owners of this property is Boyd Gaming and they have just made a major announcement about the California. Bill Boyd, Executive Chairman of Boyd Gaming said, “As Boyd Gaming’s 40th year comes to a close, we are proud to continue reinvesting in the place where our company was born: downtown las Vegas.”

Boyd went on to announce the upgrading of the California. The company hopes to continue to maintain its large Hawaiian clientele with an improved environment while also drawing new folks to try out the California.
