We know, you never heard of the Little Church of the West, right? It is very famous and for different reasons. There are so many wedding chapels in Las Vegas, it is hard to keep them straight. This one is located way south of most of the others and has a rich history.

It is a famous church because of well publicized celebrity weddings that took place there. There was Zsa Zsa Gabor and George Saunders; Judy Garland; Mickey Rooney, Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford. And, it was the setting for the wedding between Elvis Presley and Ann-Margret’s wedding in the iconic Las Vegas movie “Viva Las Vegas.”

The church itself was built in 1942 and made of cedar and California redwood. It was designed to look like a church that would be typical in an old mining town.

This church is listed in the National Register of Historical Places. Due to the development of the Strip over time, the little church has had to move three times. Today, it is located at 4617 S. Las Vegas Boulevard right at the intersection of Russell Road, right by McCarran Airport.
