cocktail1In the early 1950s, beginning in 1951, Las Vegas became obsessed with the Atomic Age. The Chamber of Commerce began marketing the city as “The Atomic City.” Clark County actually changed its official seal to include a mushroom cloud.

Much of the marketing campaigns of both local government and businesses were atomic themed. There were atomic hairdos, atomic themed postcards, atomic lunch boxes, and parties in celebration of a nuclear explosion. The era of Nuclear tourism became a profitable new trend.

Another big deal back then was the Atomic Cocktail. Today, very few Vegas bartenders could produce the drink for you. If they do, they should get a double tip, if you survive the experience. Just so you will be prepared and not get fooled, we are providing the recipe. Don’t try this at home without adult supervision and an electroshock heart defibrillation unit.

Atomic Cocktail

1 1/2 ounces Vodka

1 1/2 ounces Brandy

1 Teaspoon Sherry

1 1/2 ounces Brut Champagne

Instructions

Stir the vodka, brandy, and sherry with cracked ice. Then, strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Add 1 1/2 to 2 ounces cold champagne. Boom! You Got It.
