The Secret World Of Card Counting

shutterstock_217289764If you have seen the movie or read the book, “21,” you learned something about card counting, if you didn’t already know. In blackjack, card counting is a technique that allows the player to reduce the house edge to zero or better. It’s great for players, but casinos hate it.

Contrary to what you may have heard, card counting is not illegal. However, if caught, a casino will likely ask you to leave or at least to quit playing blackjack. Don’t worry, they won’t take you to the back room and break your arms. It’s not a crime. It’s a good idea not to ask the dealer for the count. LOL.

Card counting, and there are several different techniques, requires good concentration, but it can be mastered if you devote some time to it. Keep in mind that being a great card counter does not guarantee you will win, but it will greatly increase your chances of winning.

There are training apps you can get on your phone or computer that will help you become proficient. One of the easiest systems to learn is called the “Hi-Lo” system. It is a way to determine the balance of high versus low cards left in the deck(s) and take advantage.  To learn more about this system look here. You can also check out the other systems on this site.
