i-see-no-evil-1696233_960_720We often talk of doing things in Las Vegas. This time we will talk about not doing, but rather avoiding certain things. Those who have been to Las Vegas a lot may know these things, but newbies won’t. So, take a minute and look over our list of things not to do. Avoiding these things will save you money, pain, and time.

  1. Don’t go to Las Vegas without an ample budget. If you have never been you will learn the hard way about certain fees and expenses that plague visitors. There are now parking fees, new in 2016 and almost every hotel has resort fees that can be $35 or more per day. Don’t visit Vegas without doing your research before you go. Find out the prices for shows, attractions, and food. Even fast food can be 50-100% more than you pay at home. In short, everything is more expensive in Las Vegas.
  2. If you are planning on doing a lot of drinking, getting drunk, don’t gamble while drinking and don’t get a tattoo, or rent an escort. We all tend to make bad choices when we are four sheets to the wind. But, reality always seems to return. Some people have had a night of drinking in Vegas and have awakened married to a stranger. Yikes, who wants to explain that to one’s spouse or significant other?
  3. If you are a slot player, avoid playing the ones at McCarran Airport. They really suck!
  4. Avoid yielding to the temptation of hiring an escort service or hiring a prostitute. You may NOT get what you think you are paying for. Vegas abounds with cons and scams. Some have gotten mugged for their money instead of sexual favors.
  5. Avoid taking cabs in Vegas. Opt for Uber or Lyft, or better yet walk if it isn’t too far. You can burn a lot of calories by just crossing the street in Vegas. Everything is further than it looks. So save money and stay fit.
  6. Crime is increasing currently, especially in the middle of the Strip. Avoid any isolated areas and when crossing one of the bridges to cross the street, don’t accept anything from anybody, even if its free. It isn’t.
  7. Avoid any “free show” offers unless you are willing to suffer through an arm breaking time share presentation. If you don’t have a strong personality, you may get that free show alright, and a new time share. Enjoy!

Las Vegas is our favorite city and we urge people to enjoy the great things it offers, but with safety in mind. We want our readers to save money, have fun, and come back often.
